Last year, it was announced that Ram’s flagship truck was getting a ton of updates, including a new selection of powertrains, new trims and special editions, and a big-time facelift.
Now that we’ve had some time with the 2025 model at our Ram dealership in Muscatine, here are some of our favorite things about it.
Ram 1500 Engine Options
For this model year, Ram completely overhauled the available motors that power their half-ton pickups. There are now 3 engine options:
- 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 (Standard in Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, and Big Horn/Lone Star)
- 305 horsepower
- 269 pound-feet of torque
- 8,110 pounds max towing
- 2,370 pounds max payload
- 3.0-liter Hurricane (Warlock, Laramie, and Rebel; Available in Tradesman and Big Horn/Lone Star)
- 420 horsepower
- 469 pound-feet of torque
- 11,550 pounds max towing
- 1,980 pounds max payload
- 3.0-liter Hurricane High-Output (Standard in Limited, Limited Longhorn, Tungsten, and RHO)
- 540 horsepower
- 521 pound-feet of torque
- 9,920 pounds max towing
- 1,520 pounds max payload
Many Ram fans have noted the conspicuous absence of the HEMI® V8, which was a staple of the brand for many years. While it’s true that the V8-powered Ram has been officially phased out of the main lineup, folks looking for a truck with tons of power for towing, hauling, and off-roading will still find plenty of options under the hood.
Ram 1500 Tech and Infotainment
One of the biggest changes for 2025 is that the Ram is now one of the most technologically advanced trucks ever made. Even at the lower-level trims, its in-cabin experience is geared for maximum luxury and comfort.

Top-line trims like the Ram 1500 Tungsten get an absolutely insane amount of screen real estate, including a Uconnect® 5 14.4-inch center touchscreen display, 12.0-inch digital Driver Information Display, 10.25-inch passenger co-pilot display, and head-up display. Other available features include a 23-speaker Klipsch® Reference Premiere Audio System and dual wireless device charging pads.
Of course, you don’t have to buck up for the most expensive model to enjoy a wealth of tech features. The base model still gets a Uconnect® 5 8.4-inch touch screen display, which is larger than many other leading truck brands, while mid-level trims like the Laramie and Rebel are kitted with a 12.0-inch center touchscreen and a 7.0-inch Driver Info Display.

The Ram 1500 also leads its class in safety and driver assistance features. Standard equipment across all models includes:
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go
- Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus
- Pedestrian Emergency Braking
- Active Lane Management System
- Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Trailer Detection
- Auto High-Beam Headlamp Control
- ParkView® Rear Back-Up Camera
Additional available features include Evasive Steer Assist, ParkSense® Automated Parking System, Intersection Collision Assist System, and the Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System, which allows for automated driving on thousands of miles of roads and highways across North America.
Ram 1500 Off-Road Abilities
The Ram 1500 has always been a contender for one of the best off-road trucks that money can buy, and that reputation is still alive and well. This year, the lineup has multiple models and features that are geared for mudding enthusiasts.

An available drive mode selector allows you to tailor driving dynamics and ride height to the situation at hand, with settings for Normal, Tow, Snow, Sport, and Off-Road. Many trims also have adaptive air-ride suspension to further increase ride height for when things get a little extra hairy.
But, the undisputed king of the lineup has to be the all-new Ram 1500 RHO. This purpose-built off-road machine has insane capability, and it’s fitted with a massive array of rugged features, including:
- 3.0-liter Hurricane High-Output engine
- 35-inch Goodyear® Wrangler® Territory All-Terrain tires
- Bilstein® Black Hawk® e2 shock system
- Dana 60™ rear axle with electronic locking differential
- Full-time BorgWarner transfer case with 4WD Auto, 4WD High and 4WD Low
- 13-inch travel front suspension
- 14-inch travel rear suspension
- Sport performance dual exhaust
- Skid plate underbody protection
- High-strength tow hooks (2 in front, 1 in rear)
- Premium LED headlamps, foglamps, taillights, and marker lights
- Selec-Speed® control
- Widebody fenders, box sides and flares
Even if you don’t have $70k to drop on an overlanding rig, don’t worry. The Ram 1500 also offers other trims that cater to off-road and adventure enthusiasts, including the affordable Ram 1500 Warlock and special edition Ram 1500 Rebel X.
